Plot

Based on a true story, Italo Barocco vividly depicts the life-altering friendship between an extraordinary dog and a lonely child. One day, a good natured stray dog by the name of Italo, wanders into the small Sicilian town of Scicli.

Italo’s arrival causes a terrible uproar in the village, everyone there is fiercely opposed to having stray dogs around. Everyone except Meno, a precociously wise 10 year-old, who is lonely and introverted. Since the passing of this mother, Meno has shut everyone out, including his workaholic father. It will take the unconditional love of a special dog like Italo to force Meno out of his shell, leading him into a series of adventures that will teach him the difference between acting like a grown up and actually becoming one.

Obtained her Diploma in Editing from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome She has worked as editor and postproduction coordinator with several journalists, producers and directors, making special reports, investigative documentaries, and short films. Her début in directing fiction was with the short “Uninstalling love” which was selected in more than 100 festivals worldwide and has won dozens of prizes. She is also responsible for the editing of the film “Come Non Detto”, a Moviemax Media Group production. “Italo Barocco” is her feature debut.

Ispirato a una storia vera, Italo Barocco racconta la tenera amicizia tra un cane straordinario e un bambino solitario. Italo, un randagio dall’aria buona, arriva nel paesino siciliano di Scicli.

Al suo arrivo la città è in subbuglio: nessuno vuole saperne di cani randagi in giro. Nessuno tranne il piccolo Meno. Meno ha dieci anni, ma uno sguardo già adulto e perennemente accigliato. Da quando sua madre non c’è più si è chiuso in se stesso. Ci vorrà tutto l’affetto di un cane speciale come Italo per farlo uscire dal guscio. E Meno si lascerà coinvolgere in una serie di avventure che gli insegneranno la differenza tra atteggiarsi adulto e diventarlo veramente.

Alessia Scarso ha conseguito il diploma in montaggio presso il Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Roma. Ha lavorato come montatrice e coordinatrice della post-produzione collaborando con numerosi giornalisti, produttori e registi, preparando inchieste speciali, documentari investigativi e cortometraggi. Il corto “Disinstallare un amore” ha segnato il suo esordio alla regia. Selezionato da più di cento festival nel mondo ha vinto una dozzina di premi. E’ anche responsabile al montaggio del film “Come non detto”, prodotto da Moviemax Media Group. “Italo Barocco” è il suo primo lungometraggio.

Plot

It is the age of Imperial Rome! Young Timo, an orphan of Pompeii’s terrible eruption, is adopted by general Chirone and raised in the most famous Gladiators’ Academy in Rome.

Unfortunately Timo is not exactly gladiator material! He just wants to hang out with his friends, Ciccius and Mauritius, and avoid his stepfather’s bizarre training sessions at all costs! However, when Timo encounters the lovely Lucilla, he decides to change his life and bring out the valour inside himself that has never shown itself before. Through sorcery, crazy escapades in the woods and the intense training from a personal female trainer, Timo has to transform himself into the greatest gladiator of all times. And as they say in Rome, if “fortune favours the bold” … hard times are awaiting Timo!

Iginio Straffi started his career in Italy as a sketcher for comic books for several magazines and publishers. Later he decided to work solely in animation and moved to France and Luxembourg where he worked in a few movie productions.

Back to Italy he put his experience to good and in 1995 founded Rainbow, an animation studio with the aim to produce multimedia projects for children. He directed various animated TV series including the Winx Club which became a worldwide success and is now broadcasted in over 130 countries. He is the writer and director of 3 animated feature movies among which Gladiators of Rome, 2012.

Trama

Roma Imperiale. Rimasto orfano in seguito alla terribile eruzione di Pompei, il piccolo Timo viene adottato dal generale Chirone e cresciuto nell’Accademia di Gladiatori più famosa di Roma.

Purtroppo la vita da gladiatore non fa proprio per Timo, la cui unica aspirazione è spassarsela con gli amici Ciccius e Mauritius, sfuggendo alle bizarre sessioni di allenamento del suo patrigno. Ma quando incontra la dolcissima Lucilla, Timo vuole dare una svolta alla propria vita e dimostrare tutto il valore che finora non ha mai avuto. Fra stregonerie, pazze scorribande nel bosco e gli addestramenti intensi con una personal trainer, l’impresa di Timo sarà quella di trasformarsi nel piu grande gladiatore di tutti i tempi. E se a Roma si dice che “la fortuna aiuta gli audaci”… per Timo si prevedono tempi durissimi!

Inizia la sua carriera in Italia come disegnatore in diverse riviste e case editrici. Successivamente, decide di dedicarsi all’animazione e si reca in Francia e in Lussemburgo dove lavora in diverse produzioni cinematografiche.
Tornato in Italia, mette a frutto la sua esperienza e fonda nel 1995 uno studio d’animazione, la Rainbow con lo scopo di produrre opere multimediali per bambini. Ha diretto numerose serie televisive animate come quella di Winx Club che è diventata un vero successo mondiale e trasmesso in 130 Paesi.
È anche autore e regista di 3 lungometraggi in animazione fra cui Gladiatori di Roma, del 2012.

Yellowbird lives in the ruins of an old house. He lacks the confidence to leave his home, no matter how much Bug, his labybird friend, tries to convince him to go out into the world.

Attempts to toughen him up have had little success, so Bug seizes an opportunity that leaves Yellowbird unexpectedly finding himself the new leader of the flock that is migrating to Africa. Still, lacking faith in his own abilities and with danger and imminent failure lurking around every corner, our feathered hero is forced to either find the strength required to work with the team or bow out and stay hidden away forever.

Having worked closely with Wes Anderon and Tim Burton and with over 20 years experience in cartoons for television and cinema, initially as a traditional 2D animator, then as storyboard artist and finally as director, Christian worked for studios as diverse as Disney, Warner Bros, Aardman and Fox. Studying cinematography and animation at the Roberto Rossellini Institute of Film in Rome gave him the strong basis he needed to enter the world of animation and film. Yellowbird is his first full length 3D animated feature film, to be released in 2015 and produced by TeamTo, Haut & Court, La Cie Cinématographique & Panache.

Trama

Yellowbird vive tra le macerie di una casa in rovina. Nonostante la sua compagna Bug lo esorti a lasciare il nido per esplorare il mondo, l’uccellino non se la sente di correre dei rischi.

Dopo molti tentativi andati a vuoto, Bug riesce a spronarlo mettendolo inaspettatamente alla guida dello stormo in procinto di migrare verso l’Africa. All’inizio Yellowbird non sa affrontare i pericoli del viaggio e sembra smarrito ma, a poco a poco, trova dentro di sé il coraggio e la sicurezza del leader.

Plot

Following in the steps of the Phoenician hero, Cadmus, who mythology claims was the creator of the Greek alphabet, Nicola, a man in his thirties, takes his 10-year-old brother, Elia on a trip of a lifetime.

They travel to Italy in search of a new language so that they too can give everything new names while bringing a new meaning to language itself. Through their travels, they face the painful memories and reality of historical events. The road traveled becomes one of learning and exploration of the imagination. On the border of documentary and fiction, this movie tells a story of hope and of a country that could be.

Sulle tracce dell’eroe fenicio Cadmo, cui il mito attribuisce l’introduzione in Grecia dell’alfabeto, Nicola, trentenne e incerto sul futuro, e il fratello di dieci anni Elia, intraprendono un viaggio in Italia alla ricerca di un nuovo linguaggio, per la necessità di ridare i nomi alle cose e restituire alle parole un senso.

Nel loro peregrinare, registrando volti e luoghi realtà dolorose e memorie storiche, la strada diventa percorso di formazione e insieme di esplorazione immaginaria. Al confine tra documentario e finzione, il film racconta le speranze del Paese che sarà.

Nel 2002 dirige il documentario “Parole d’Ercolano” in cui raccoglie le aspettative e le testimonianze di un gruppo di bambini della periferia napoletana che, conclusa la quinta elementare, lasceranno la scuola senza farvi più ritorno; realizza inoltre il cortometraggio “L’era dell’ottimismo”, in cui racconta la chiusura di un alimentari a conduzione familiare causata dall’apertura di un grande centro commerciale. Nel 2009 firma il cortometraggio “399 B.C.”, liberamente tratto dall’Apologia di Socrate di Platone: il lavoro è una trasposizione della condanna a morte di Socrate nella New York contemporanea. On June 10, 1940, Prime Minister Mackenzie King announced the detainment and internment of Italian-Canadians considered a threat to the safety of our country. Under the guidelines of the War Measures Act, the RCMP were given freedom to arrest any person with ties to an Axis nation without proof of threat, disloyalty, or subversion to our government. Out of 150,000 immigrated and Canadian born Italian-Canadians, 30,000 were listed as “enemy aliens” and over 700 were interned in camps. Some interned men lost sons fighting in the war, others enlisted in the war for Canada once released.

Stefano Consiglio, regista e attore, è nato a Roma. Nel 1982 è uno degli ideatori e curatori di Ladri di Cinema: una serie d’incontri con cineasti di tutto il mondo. Nel 1983 pubblica la “Bottega della Luce”, interviste con i direttori della fotografia. Nel corso di questi stessi anni collabora come aiuto regista con Giuseppe Bertolucci, Roberto Benigni, Giulio Questi e in una serie di film pubblicitari.

This is the story of sports idol, Gino Bartali and other courageous Italians who helped rescue the Jewish community, partisans and refugees from extermination in a Nazi-occupied Italy.  Bartali worked within a secret network alongside thousands of other like-minded Italians who risked their lives to save those being persecuted from capture and death. While the entire continent was engulfed in a genocide, which took the lives of nearly 6 million Jewish people in the rest of Europe, more than 80 percent of Italy’s Jewish people survived with the help of this secret network. Bartali, like most of the rescuers, never sought recognition or reward for his efforts and few of those he helped knew his name or what role he played in their rescue.

Questa è la storia di Gino Bartali, un idolo nel mondo del ciclismo, e di altri italiani coraggiosi che hanno aiutato a salvare ebrei, partigiani e rifugiati dallo sterminio nell’Italia occupata dai nazisti.  Insieme a migliaia d’italiani, Bartali formò una rete segreta il cui scopo era il salvataggio di coloro che rischiavano incarcerazione, oppressione e morte.  Mentre l’Europa subiva un genocidio che prese la vita di circa sei milioni di ebrei, più dell’80 percento degli ebrei in Italia sopravvissero grazie all’ingegno di questa rete segreta.  Bartali, come molti altri eroi dell’olocausto, non cercò mai di essere premiato o riconsciuto per il suo eroismo, e pochi di quelli che furono salvati potettero conoscere chi fosse.

C’est l’histoire de l’étoile du cyclisme Gino Bartali et d’autres Italiens courageux qui ont sauvé de nombreux Juifs, partisans et réfugiés, à l’époque de l’occupation allemande. Avec des milliers d’autres Italiens, Bartali a fait partie d’un réseau secret dont le but était de sauver ceux qui risquaient d’être emprisonnés, opprimés ou tués. Alors qu’en Europe le génocide des Juifs a causé la mort de près de six millions de personnes, plus de 80% des juifs en Italie a survécu grâce à la mobilisation de ce réseau. Bartali, comme beaucoup d’autres héros de l’Holocauste, n’a jamais cherché à avoir une reconnaissance pour son héroïsme et peu parmi ceux qui ont été sauvés ont su ce qu’il a fait pour eux.
