Plot

Margherita is a director shooting a film about factory workers, starring an eccentric and quick-tempered American actor. Plot

The film follows the events of the disaster of Ustica which took place on June 27th, 1980, the causes of which have not been established and which remain the source of controversy, decades after their occurrence. On June 27, 1980, the commercial flight Douglas DC-9 en route from Bologna to Palermo exploded mid-air above the islands of Ustica and Ponza, leaving no survivors. Thirty five years later, Ustica remains one of the most painful mysteries of Italy. There are three causes which have been put forth: Structural failure of the plane, a bomb on board, and a missile.

De plus, cet article donne l’idée à un metteur en scène de faire de nouveau appel à elle. Federica craint la publicité et le scandale. En perte de repères, elle rencontre un ami perdu de vue depuis longtemps et avec lui elle trompe Marina. Qui l’apprend. Et c’est la rupture. Jenny is seventeen and dreams of becoming a synchronized swimmer, but her carefree adolescent life in Ostia, a seacoast town near Rome, is shaken by the sudden death of her mother. In Abruzzo, the family of Giulio, Veronica and their little son Marzio lives happily. Giulio is a likable man who likes the countryside and who is friends with the city councillor, Cesario. Giulio and Cesario often organize family soccer games, which then are followed by lavish buffets. Veronica too is quite happy — she enjoys the tranquil life of her town with her friends but recognizes that her little son Marzio wants a little brother. After several tests, Giulio discovers that he is infertile and doesn’t know how to deal with the situation. In fact, he distances himself from his marital responsibilities… His friends make efforts to keep his family together and to regain the happy state they used to enjoy.

On June 10, 1940, Prime Minister Mackenzie King announced the detainment and internment of Italian-Canadians considered a threat to the safety of our country. Under the guidelines of the War Measures Act, the RCMP were given freedom to arrest any person with ties to an Axis nation without proof of tahreat, disloyalty, or subversion to our government. Out of 150,000 immigrated and Canadian born Italian-Canadians, 30,000 were listed as “enemy aliens” and over 700 were interned in camps. Some interned men lost sons fighting in the war, others enlisted in the war for Canada once released.

Enrico Giusti (Valerio Mastrandrea) works with incompetent individuals who run the risk of ruining the businesses they manage. Tommaso (Marco Giallini), la cinquantaine, est un chirurgien affirmé. Gauchistes quelque peu en rupture d’idéal, Tommaso et son épouse Carla (Laura Morante) ont élevé leur fille Bianca (Ilaria Spada) et leur fils Andrea (Enrico Oetiker) dans un esprit de laïcité et d’engagement.

Malheureusement pour eux, Bianca, loin d’avoir emprunté le parcours tracé par ses parents, est une jeune femme mariée qui se désintéresse du monde qui l’entoure. Comble de l’horreur, voilà qu’Andrea annonce son intention de devenir prêtre. C’en est trop ! Tommaso décide de suivre son fils en cachette afin d’en savoir plus sur ce prêtre particulier qui selon lui a retourné Andrea. Il est bien décidé à le « libérer » de son influence. C’est ainsi que Tommaso fait la connaissance de Don Pietro (Alessandro Gassman). Toutefois, son charisme et son activisme ne laissent pas indifférent le chirurgien athée qui à son contact est amené à revoir certaines de ses positions. D’une manière plus ou moins directe, toute la famille est affectée par une série de changements.

Plot

Francis of Paola, one of the most famous miracle workers in Christian history, was born on March 27, 1417. The celebrations of the 600-year anniversary of his birth coincided with Easter, which culminated in a series of important events throughout the region of Calabria.

On this special day for the entire Calabrian community and for the Christian faith, the Order of the Minims continues its mission, spiritually coinciding with the Jubilee of Mercy. The anniversary was celebrated by hundreds of thousands of faithful people and saw pilgrimages throughout the world, especially Canada. Here a delegation from the Valle del Savuto Socio-Cultural Club in Toronto left for Calabria. Among the components of the Italian-Canadian group was the journalist Enzo di Mauro, whose camera caught the most important moments of the religious events. Di Mauro followed the delegation of the town of Tropea, to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Pettoruto, in the city of Santo Stefano di Rogliano and Cosenza.

Francesco nacque il 27 marzo 1416 a Paola (Cosenza) da Giacomo Martolilla e Vienna da Fuscaldo. Essendo già in età avanzata, i genitori attribuirono la nascita del loro primogenito all’intercessione di San Francesco, e per questo gli diedero il nome del Santo e promisero di rivestirlo dell’abito votivo dei Francescani.

Francesco divenne per Paola un punto di riferimento religioso e sociale, entrando nel cuore della gente che si recava da lui per sottoporgli problemi di diversa natura. L’Eremita era visto, inoltre, come l’unico baluardo in grado di opporsi ai soprusi della corte aragonese, come la persona capace di mettersi dalla parte della gente povera e semplice di quel lembo del Regno di Napoli e di assumere un ruolo di vero “umanista” nell’interesse di chi non aveva voce.

Seeing that, surprisingly, George’s girlfriend is a gorgeous woman, Bryan begs George to help him win over Lisa. George reluctantly does so, teaching him that literature, poetry and, especially, knowledge of Italian, can help Bryan greatly. For his part, Bryan teaches George how to be more open minded. The two forge a strong friendship, cemented by their humorous take on love and literature. An odd assortment of characters pass through the store, commenting on what is happening in the world.

Bryan eventually tries to show George that Susan is not the right woman for him. This will bring the situation to a boil. Is Bryan right? Will George and Susan stay together? Will Bryan win over Lisa’s heart? A series of humorous twists will bring these two characters to understand more about themselves.

Plot

Un paese quasi perfetto is a comedy about the desire to stay and the desire to change. Pietramezzana is a small town nestled in the Basilicata mountains that is on the verge of disappearing. Young people are leaving, and the few remaining inhabitants are mostly former miners, living with employment insurance, which could soon turn into permanent unemployment.

A handful of inhabitants, led by the galvanic and charming Domenico, refuse to give up. As soon as they get a glimpse into the opening of a possible new factory, the solution to all their problems seems near. They are determined to stay active until the project is successful. The first thing to do is find a doctor, since without a doctor there cannot be a factory. As luck would have it, they bump into Gianluca Terragini, an ambitious cosmetic surgeon from Milan. The second and far more complicated thing they must do is to convince him to stay!

Massimo Gaudioso is a Neapolitan screenwriter, director and actor. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business, he moved to Milan and then Rome, where he began to work as a copywriter, director and screenwriter. Between 1983 and 1995, he produced several television shows, documentaries, corporate videos and commercials. He also enrolled in several courses and seminars on directing. Un paese quasi perfetto est une comédie sur le désir de rester et de changement. Pietra Mezzana est une petite ville perdue dans les montagnes de Lucane (Basilicate) qui est à risque de disparaître. Les jeunes quittent, et les quelques habitants restants sont pour la plupart d’anciens mineurs, vivant avec l’assurance-chômage qui menace de devenir bientôt un chômage permanent.

Les habitants qui sont entraînés par Domenic, un homme actif et plein d’espoir, refusent d’abandonner dès qu’ils obtiennent un aperçu de l’ouverture d’une éventuelle nouvelle usine, devenant la solution à tous leurs problèmes. Antonia is the story of several moments in the life of the great poetess Antonia Pozzi (1912-1938). The film allows one to relive several personal periods in her life that were important for her development as person and artist. To follow and observe her gaze and to understand her creative impulses are tantamount to losing oneself in her universe: the Manzoni high school, the upper middle-class family, being in lovewith her former Greek and Latin teacher and having an impossible relationship with him, the immersion in poetic writing, university and meeting with teachers and friends, sexuality, the passion for mountain-climbing and photography, existential torments, and the tragic epilogue. After her death, Eugenio Montale wrote that she was “a messiah of nature”.

Ferdinando Cito Filomarino
Ferdinando Cito Filomarino was born in Milan and studied film history and theory at the University of Bologna. He directed the short film Diarchy (2010), which earned him several awards. Antonia (2015), his debut feature film, was awarded the Special Jury Mention at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Nick Marciano has directed three feature films, some of shorts and several music videos. His short films, “The Tree” and “Links” were shown at the Toronto International Short Film Festival. His second feature, “Lee’s Offering” was shown at the Toronto Italian Film Festival in the spring of 2005.
