Synopsis

The Neighborhood is a story that takes place in Brooklyn NY, about a brash small-time group of hoodlums who have been doing minor crime jobs in their neighborhood since they were kids – from stealing the basket of donations from the church to modern time when they are stealing truckloads of products until they step on the wrong toes and get caught up in a war with an old-school mafia king pin and their lives soon become hell on earth.

Frank D’Angelo is a Television personality, vocalist, entertainer, author, businessman, screenwriter and director. He first began his musical career as the lead vocalist and front man of the popular Canadian band, “Toronto”. He currently hosts his own hit late night chat and entertainment variety show “Being Frank” on CHCH TV in Canada. He directed the following movies: The Neighborhood, The Red Maple Leaf, Sicilian Vampire, La Trattoria Sitcom, No Deposit, The Big Fat Stone, Real Gangsters.

Sinossi

The Neighborhood è una storia ambientata a Brooklyn, NY. Parla di un gruppo di spavaldi malviventi che hanno commesso piccoli crimini nel loro quartiere sin da adolescenti, dal rubare il cestino delle donazioni in chiesa, per continuare con furti di più grande entità fino a compiere un passo falso ed entrare in rotta di collisione con un capo della mafia che renderà le loro vite impossibili.

Plot

The De Martino family have always had motor oil and gasoline flowing in their veins: they have been putting together and racing cars for generations. Mario, the head of the family, is forced to give way to his very young and exceptionally talented daughter Giulia.

She is joined by her 40 year old brother Loris, a former driver, totally unreliable, but with an extraordinary sense of trajectories and highly knowledgeable about engines. Together, they will have to return to the track and win, while escaping their demons and learning what it means – and hard it is – to be a family.

Matteo Rovere was born in 1982 and directed his first movie when he was very young, after directing several shorts, among which the multi-award winning Homo Homini Lupus with Filippo Timi. He is also a producer: he produced Smetto quando voglio for Ascent Film, the Pills – Sempre meglio che lavorare, La foresta di ghiaccio, other than several shorts and documentaries like Ritratto di mio padre by Maria Sole Tognazzi.

Trama

Nelle vene della famiglia De Martino scorrono da sempre olio motore e benzina. Preparano auto da corsa e crescono piloti da generazioni. Mario, il capofamiglia, sarà costretto a lasciare il posto alla giovanissima figlia Giulia, un talento eccezionale, affiancata dal fratello Loris, ex pilota quarantenne totalmente inaffidabile, ma con una straordinaria conoscenza di traiettorie e preparazione dei motori. Insieme saranno obbligati a tornare in pista e vincere, fuggendo dai loro demoni e imparando cosa significhi e quanto sia difficile essere una famiglia.

Matteo Rovere, classe 1982, ha esordito alla regia di lungometraggi giovanissimo, dopo aver diretto numerosi corti tra cui il pluripremiato Homo Homini Lupus con Filippo Timi. All’attività di regista affianca quella di produttore: per Ascent Film ha prodotto diversi film tra cui Smetto quando voglio, The Pills – Sempre meglio che lavorare, La foresta di ghiaccio, oltre a numerosi corti e documentari, tra cui Ritratto di mio padre di Maria Sole Tognazzi.

RÉSUMÉ

La famille De Martino ont toujours eu l’huile à moteur et l’essence dans le sang: ils ont mis au point des moteurs depuis des générations. Mario, le chef de famille, est obligé de céder à sa jeune fille, Giulia, dotée d’un talent exceptionnel. Elle est rejointe par son frère de 40 ans, Loris, ancien pilote de course, peu fiable, mais ayant un sens extraordinaire des trajectoires et bien compétent en moteur des voitures. Ensemble, ils devront retourner à la piste et gagner, tout en échappant à leurs démons et en apprenant ce que cela signifie – la difficulté d’être une famille.
