The trials of Iqbal start the day the village doctor prescribes expensive medicine for his brother Aziz, who suffers from pneumonia. Since the family has no money, Iqbal decides to go to the market in Mapur to sell his beloved little goat.
In Mapur he meets Hakeem, a seemingly kind but treacherous swindler, who offers to buy the medicines for Aziz. In return, Iqbal will have to work in his friend Guzman’s rug factory. Guzman forces Iqbal and other children to live in a dirty and cold warehouse as they work extremely hard to create precious carpets.
When Iqbal understands that his debt will never be paid off, he starts planning a way to set his friends and himself free and go back home.

Michel Fuzellier
Michel Fuzellier worked in advertisement, creating over 300 commercials and in publishing children’s book. In 1990 he began his career in cinema collaborating on Maurizio Nichetti and Enzo D’Alò’s animated films.
Babak Payami
Babak Payami is an Iranian-Canadian producer and director, known for Secret Ballot (2001), One More Day (2000) and Silence Between Two Thoughts (2003).

Un giorno, per poter comprare le medicine al fratello ammalato di polmonite, Iqbal va al mercato per vendere la sua capra, ma si lascia abbindolare da Hakeem, un viscido imbroglione che si offre di comprargli le medicine in cambio di lavorare per il suo amico Guzman in una fabbrica di tappeti.
In realtà, Guzman costringe Iqbal, assieme ad altri bambini, a lavorare come schiavi nella sua sporca e fredda fabbrica per fare tappeti preziosi.
Iqbal capisce subito che non potrà mai ripagare il suo debito non verrà mai ripagato, ed agisce per liberare i compagni e se stesso.
