Plot
Maggie is an uptight, single mother and college writing teacher from New York City. In an effort to reconnect with her troubled teen daughter Summer, she decides to embark on a journey to a Tuscan village that she frequented in her younger days. Upon arrival, Maggie runs into Luca, a handsome former lover who is still a bachelor and lives with his eighty-year-old mother, Carmen. Summer (missing her “bad boy” boyfriend in NYC) and Carmen (secretly planning a wedding against Luca’s wishes to Marcelino, her one true love in Rome) impulsively steal Luca’s car and race off to Rome. Maggie and Luca quickly follow, allowing the two mismatched couples to spend some time together and develop a new understanding of each other.

Trama
Maggie è una nervosa madre single e un’insegnante universitaria di scrittura a New York. Nel tentativo di ristabilire il rapporto con la sua turbata teenager Summer, decide di avventurarsi in viaggio verso un villaggio toscano, che aveva frequentato da giovane. Appena arriva, Maggie incontra Luca, un bel ex amante ancora scapolo che vive con sua madre Carmen, di ottant’anni. Summer (cui manca il ragazzo “bad boy”) e Carmen (che segretamente pianifica il matrimonio con Marcelino, suo vero amore, contro la volontà di Luca) imparano a conoscersi. Insieme le due donne rubano la macchina di Luca e si dirigono a Roma. Maggie e Luca le seguono, permettendo alle due strane coppie di trascorrere un po’ di tempo insieme e imparare a capirsi meglio.

Nel 2012 ha ricevuto un premio onorario per il suo lavoro nella cultura giovanile nell’ambito dei premi Guldbagge (l’equivalente svedese degli Oscar). Nata nel 1965 a Uppsala in Svezia, dal 1988 al 1991 ha frequentato l’istituto Dramatiska per registi. Il suo debutto cinematografico è stato Drömprinsen-filmen om Em nel 1996, che è stato proiettato per la prima volta nelle sale svedesi.
Résumé
Maggie est une mère célibataire et une enseignante d’écriture à New York City. Dans un effort de renouer avec sa fille troublée, Summer, elle décide d’organiser un voyage dans un village toscan qu’elle fréquentait quand elle était plus jeune. À l’arrivée, Maggie rencontre Luca, un ancien amant beau qui est encore célibataire et vit avec sa mère de quatre-vingt-ans, Carmen. Summer (qui manque à son petit ami “bad boy” à New York) et Carmen (qui planifie secrètement un mariage contre la volonté de Luca à Marcelino, son seul vrai amour à Rome) impulsivement volent la voiture de Luca et échappent à Rome. Maggie et Luca suivent rapidement en permettant aux deux couples dépareillés de passer du temps ensemble et de développer une nouvelle compréhension l’un de l’autre.

Ella Lemhagen est un réalisateur suédois et scénariste. En 2012, elle a reçu un prix d’honneur Gullspira pour son travail remarquable dans la culture des jeunes à la cérémonie des Guldbagge (équivalents suédois aux Oscars). Lemhagen est né en 1965 à Uppsala en Suède et est allé au programme d’administration de Dramatiska institut de 1988 à 1991.
