Lori-Ann Bellissimo is a Canadian artist who returned to Canada two years ago after working and exhibiting in Asia and Italy over a five-year span. 
Bellissimo’s paintings explore the paradox of spatial depth on a flat surface as the apparent shifting of colour and form within the painting gauges perspective. Abstract elements of design float on the edge of representation but are transformed by a congruous perspective or colour scheme. Working intuitively, informed by metaphysics and science; Bellissimo’s new works explore the tension between geometric and expressionist forms of abstraction. This exhibition includes “Pattern Integrity” a series of shaped plexi-glass wall structures casting shadows, inlaid with mixed media, agate, resin and based on the writing of Buckminster Fuller. As well, digitally based mixed media paintings will be on display. “Bellissimo’s works are intellectually searching and solid, yet their physical presence is apparently weightless.
