Twenty eight year old Pietro, a lonely soul who works nightshifts in a bakery, has just moved to Rome into a beautiful apartment which is badly in need of repair but crucially has low rent.
He soon starts noticing objects have been moved and there are strange noises coming from empty rooms. It becomes clear that he is not living alone. His initial reaction is to ignore the seven and a half annoying residents, then tries everything he can to get rid of them, to no avail.
Over time, their forced cohabitation falls into a pattern of domestic intimacy and Pietro realises that he is no longer lonely. For the first time he is part of a group with whom he can share his desires, fears and secrets.
When the moment of their separation finally comes, Pietro finds it hard to return to a solitary existence. But, happily, the lessons he learnt from his other-worldly friends have made him braver and truly ready for a new life in which he will never be alone again.

Trama
Pietro ha 28 anni, arriva a Roma dalla Sicilia con un unico grande sogno: fare l’attore! Tra un provino e l’altro sbarca il lunario sfornando cornetti tutte le notti.
E’ un ragazzo timido, solitario e l’unica confusionaria compagnia è quella della cugina Maria, praticante in uno studio legale dalla vita sentimentale troppo piena. Dividono provvisoriamente lo stesso appartamento legati da un rapporto di amore e odio in una quotidianità che fa scintille.
Ma arriva il giorno in cui Pietro trova, finalmente, una casa tutta per sé, un appartamento d’epoca, dotato di un fascino molto particolare e Pietro non vede l’ora di cominciare la sua nuova esistenza da uomo libero.
La felicità dura solo pochi giorni: presto cominciano ad apparire particolari inquietanti. E’ chiaro che qualcun altro vive insieme a lui.
Ma chi? L’appartamento è occupato, ospiti non previsti disturbano la sua tanto desiderata privacy… Sono misteriosi, eccentrici, elegantissimi, perfettamente truccati. Si scatenano mille ipotesi e mille tentativi di sbarazzarsi di queste ingombranti presenze, finché poco a poco lo spavento iniziale lascia il posto alla curiosità, alla seduzione reciproca, ad emozioni comuni che creano un legame profondo tra i coinquilini forzati.
Con loro Pietro condivide desideri e segreti, crede in loro e loro credono in lui come nessun altro fuori da quella casa…
