ICFF launches From Bello to Beautiful The Art and Impact of Italian-Canadian Cinema

In honour of Canada’s 150th Birthday, the Italian Contemporary Film Festival is proud to present an exciting 7-day free-admission screening series from June 8th – June 16th, 2017 dedicated to the history, development, art, and influence of Italian-Canadian cinema throughout the decades.

Toronto – In honour of Canada’s 150th Birthday, the Italian Contemporary Film Festival presented by IC Savings, is proud to present From Bello to Beautiful: The Art and Impact of Italian-Canadian Cinema. This exciting 7-day free-admission screening series of a multitude of inspirational films crafted by Italian-Canadians will run from June 8th – June 16th, 2017.

The new slate of programming and events will pay tribute to a selection of key figures in the history of Canadian Cinema, showcasing Italian immigrants that have had immeasurable impact in Ontario, and for the City of Toronto in various sectors including cuisine, construction, and neighbourhoods.

This investment will highlight the contribution of Italian – Canadian actors and filmmakers in both Canadian and international cinema.”  – Laura Albanese, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

Ontario’s 150th anniversary is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the incredible province we live in. Through the Ontario150 program, we are supporting initiatives that recognize the people, places and events that make Ontario great. The Community Celebration Program will ensure that people in every corner of the province can recognize our 150th year and explore our heritage.” Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

Cristiano de Florentiis, Artistic Director of ICFF Festival:  “From Bello to Beautiful: The Art and Impact of Italian-Canadian Cinema will be the first-ever Ontario event that celebrates the contribution of Italian-Canadians in the film industry. It will weave together the bold, singular efforts of individuals into a comprehensive narrative, building a community of local artists, audiences and making it into a proud event series for Canada’s sesquicentennial anniversary”.

This series will also feature a specialized “Industry Day” to support, educate, and inspire emerging filmmakers and industry professionals in Ontario. Welcoming prominent Italian-Canadian creators, this event will include specifically tailored workshops, presentations, networking opportunities and in-depth discussion panels on topics relevant to succeeding in the Ontario and global media landscape.

Screenings will take place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox at 350 King St West, Toronto, and Cineplex Cinema Vaughan. Tickets will be available on the ICFF website, or in person at the ICFF and TIFF Box Office. For further information, please visit www.icff.ca.
