Le Guetteur

Plot

Police chief Mattei is about to arrest a notorious gang of thieves when, during a robbery at a Parisian bank, a sharpshooter on the roof of an overlooking building single-handedly decimates an army of cops, thereby letting his accomplices escape. Unfortunately, one of them is seriously wounded and the rest of their plan is compromised. While Mattei organizes a massive manhunt, the descent into hell for for each gang member begins.

Michele Placido

Michele Placido

One of the best known names in Italian cinema, Placido started his career first as a theatre actor, then moving to television in 1970. He worked with Luca Ronconi and Mario Monicelli. His role as the police inspector Corrado Cattani in the TV series La Piovra marked the beginning of his greatest television popularity. In 1990 he made his directorial debut with the feature film Pummarò, presented at the Cannes International Film Festival, followed by numerous movies such as Del perduto amore (1998), Romanzo criminale (1995), Il grande sogno (2009) and Vallanzasca (2010). In 2009 he won the prestigious Federico Fellini 8 1/2 award for artistic excellence. His most recent work, Il Cecchino (Le Guetteur), a thriller set in Paris, was presented at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2012.

Trama

Il commissario Mattei sta per arrestare una nota banda di rapinatori di banche quando, nel corso di un ennesimo colpo ad una banca di Parigi, un cecchino appostato sul tetto di un palazzo prospiciente uccide un gran numero di poliziotti, permettendo ai complici di fuggire. Ma uno di loro è gravemente ferito e il piano di fuga risulta così compromesso. Mentre Mattei organizza una gigantesca caccia all’uomo, per ognuno dei criminali inizia la discesa all’inferno.

Tra i più celebri nomi del cinema italiano, Placido ha iniziato la sua carriera come attore di teatro e poi per la televisione nel 1970, collaborando con Luca Ronconi e Mario Monicelli. Ha interpretato il commissario Cattani nel telefim La Piovra, che l’ha reso noto al grande pubblico. Nel 1990 ha esordito come regista con Pummarò, presentato al Festival di Cannes, seguito da numerose pellicole tra cui Del perduto amore (1998), Romanzo criminale (1995), Il grande sogno (2009) e Vallanzasca (2010). Nel 2009 ha ricevuto il Premio Federico Fellini 8 1/2 per l’eccellenza artistica. Il suo ultimo lavoro, Il Cecchino (Le Guetteur) è un thriller ambientato a Parigi e presentato al Festival di Cannes nel 2012.
