Written and directed by Giovanni Columbu, Su Re is a rereading of the Passion of Christ translated into the Sardinian dialect and transposed within the harsh landscape of Sardinia. The movie starts and finishes in the grave, where Mary cries over her dead son.

Giovanni Columbu
Columbu began his career writing numerous TV shows, such as Visos – sette sogni and Villages and Villages, broadcast by RAI in Cagliari between 1979 and 1999. In 1999 he founded the LUCHES FILM and directed various documentaries. In 2001 he directed his first feature film, Arcipelaghi, which won several prizes. Besides being a film director, he is also the author of books such as L’Arma dell’immagine (1977), Lollas – La città immateriale (1998), and Visos – sogni visoni avvisi (1990). Su Re is his second feature film, which premiered in the International Competition at the 30th Turin Film Festival.
Trama
Scritto e diretto da Giovanni Columbu, Su Re è la rilettura della passione di Cristo, tradotta nel dialetto sardo, tra i paesaggi aspri della Sardegna. Nel film il racconto inizia e finisce nel sepolcro dove Maria piange sul corpo del figlio.

Ha iniziato la sua carriera dal piccolo schermo, realizzando per la RAI di Cagliari dal 1979 al 1999 numerosi programmi televisivi, tra cui Visos – sette sogni e Villages and Villages, vincendo alcuni premi. Nel 1999 ha costituito la LUCHES FILM realizzando come regista diversi documentari. Nel 2001 gira il suo primo film Arcipelaghi, che vince diversi premi. Oltre ad essere un regista, è anche autore di alcuni libri tra cui L’Arma dell’immagine (1977), Lollas – La città immateriale (1998), e Visos – sogni visoni avvisi (1990). Su Re è il suo secondo lungometraggio, presentato per la prima volta al Festival del Cinema di Torino nel 2012.
