When a friend takes the dejected Lucius to the public bathhouse to cheer him up, Lucius accidentally slips through time and resurfaces in a modern-day public bath in Japan. There, he meets aspiring young manga artist Mami, along with others of the “flat-faced clan”. Shocked by the many inventive aspects of Japan’s bathing culture, Lucius returns to ancient Rome and garners tremendous attention when he implements these novel ideas back in Rome. As he time-slips back and forth between ancient Rome and modern-day Japan, Lucius’ reputation as the ingenious, new bath architect begins to grow.

Hideki Takeuchi
Born in 1966, Takeuchi Hideki entered Fuji Television and in 1996 directed his first of many dramas for the network. In 1998 he won the Best Director prize at Japan’s 18th Television Drama Academy Awards for Just a Little More, God (Kamisama Mo Sukoshi Dake) and later scooped this honor three more times, as well as earning other industry accolades. Takeuchi made his feature debut in 2009 with the two-part musical dramedy Nodame Cantabile, which was based on his own hit drama of the same title.
Trama
L’architetto antico romano Lucio è un uomo troppo serio. La sua incapacità di tenere il passo con la rapida evoluzione dei tempi gli costa il lavoro. Quando un amico porta Lucio, abbattuto, alle terme per tirarlo su di morale, Lucio scivola per caso nel tempo e riemerge in una moderna struttura termale in Giappone.

Takeuchi Hideki ha lavorato per Fuji Television e nel 1996 ha diretto la prima delle sue serie per il canale televisivo. Nel 1998 ha vinto il premio come Miglior Regista alla 18° edizione dei Television Drama Academy Awards per Just a Little More, God (Kamisama Mo Sukoshi Dake) e successivamente lo ha conquistato altre tre volte, insieme ad altri riconoscimenti del settore. Takeuchi ha debuttato nei lungometraggi nel 2009 con la commedia musicale drammatica in due parti Nodame Cantabile che era tratta dalla sua omonima serie Tv.
