Plot
What’s a girl to do? If you’re married on a small island in southern Italy, your husband is going to call the shots. If you are an unmarried woman living at home with your parents, your mother will be doing that. If you are the town prostitute, living with the town’s disdain puts a damper on your freedom to do as you please. It couldn’t hurt to have a couple of friends to die for…The friendship between Gilda, Olivia and Crocetta is a product of pragmatism and a big secret. They’ve agreed to keep this secret among them, although it is not always easy for a prostitute, an old maid and a naïve housewife to see eye to eye on everything!

Giorgia Farina graduated from university in London and holds a Master of Film from the Columbia University in New York City. Her short films have won many awards. She is now a habitué at the Toronto Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. Her first feature film is the black comedy Amiche da morire.
Trama
Il film racconta una storia che si svolge d’estate su un’isoletta del sud Italia. In questa realtà, divisa tra modernità e retrogrado tradizionalismo, si snodano le vite di tre donne, che malgrado le notevoli diversità si trovano costrette a far fronte comune per salvarsi la pelle. Gilda, una bellezza verace venuta dal continente, che da anni sbarca il lunario facendo il mestiere più antico del mondo; Olivia, una giovane moglie da manuale, bella ed elegante che suscita le invidie delle donne per la sua vita idilliaca accanto a un bel marito; Crocetta, il brutto anatroccolo che si mormora porti iella a qualsiasi sventurato le si avvicini e tenti di conquistarla. A complicare la loro vita arriva un fiero quanto brusco commissario di polizia, Nico Malachia. Il commissario intuisce che le tre nascondono un segreto…
