Plot
Jenny is seventeen and dreams of becoming a synchronized swimmer, but her carefree adolescent life in Ostia, a seacoast town near Rome, is shaken by the sudden death of her mother. With her father Alfio and brother Fabrizio, she is forced to move to a small village in the heart of Mainella, Alfio’s homeland. Her father is in a strong state of depression. In the previous months he lost his job and the bank foreclosed their house in Ostia. Their Uncle Tondino hosts them in an old mountain cabin, near a hotel. Jenny is forced to find a job as a waitress at the Hotel Splendor and give up school. When she discovers that the hotel has a pool, she decides to risk everything and pursue her dream.

Lamberto Sanfelice is an Italian director and screenwriter; in 2009 he directed two short films, Getting Firedand Holy Sunday as part of his studies at New York University. He debuted as a feature film director with Chlorine, which premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Sanfelice was nominated for Best New Director at the 2015 David di Donatello Awards.
Trama
Jenny ha 17 anni e un sogno: diventare campionessa di nuoto sincronizzato. La sua vita spensierata di adolescente a Ostia, sul litorale romano, viene scossa dalla morte improvvisa della madre. Con suo padre Alfio e il fratellino Fabrizio è costretta a trasferirsi in un paesino nel cuore della Maiella, terra d’origine di Alfio. Il padre è in forte stato depressivo. Nei mesi precedenti ha perso il lavoro e la casa di Ostia è stata pignorata dalla banca. Lo zio Tondino li ospita in una vecchia baìta di montagna, nei pressi di un albergo. Jenny è costretta a trovarsi un impiego come cameriera all’hotel Splendor e a rinunciare al diploma. Quando scopre che l’hotel ha una piscina, decide di rischiare tutto e inseguire il suo sogno.

Lamberto Sanfelice è un regista e sceneggiatore Italiano. Nel 2009 ha diretto due cortometraggi Licenziamento e Santa Domenica come parte dei suoi studi all’Universita di New York. Debutta come regista di lungometraggi con Cloro, che è stato mostrato in anteprima al Film Festival Sundance di 2015. Sanfelice è stato candidato al David di Donatello 2015 per la miglior regia.
Résumé
Jenny a 17 ans et un rêve: devenir une championne de nage synchronisée. Sa vie d’adolescente insouciante à Ostie, sur la côte romaine, est ébranlée par la mort soudaine de sa mère. Avec son père Alfio et son frère Fabrizio, elle se voit obligée d’emménager dans un petit village au cœur de la Maiella, terre d’origine de son père. Son père vit une forte dépression, les mois précédents, il a perdu son emploi et sa maison d’Ostie a été saisie par la banque. Tondino, son oncle, les héberge dans un vieux chalet de montagne, à proximité d’un hôtel. Jenny doit se trouver un emploi comme serveuse à l’hôtel Splendor et à renoncer d’obtenir un diplôme. Quand elle découvre que l’hôtel dispose d’une piscine, elle décide de tout risquer et de poursuivre son rêve.

Lamberto Sanfelice est un réalisateur et scénariste italien. En 2009, il a réalisé deux courts métrages: «Licenziamento» et «Santa Domenica» dans le cadre de ses études à l’Université de New York. Il a fait ses débuts en tant que réalisateur de longs-métrages avec “Cloro” qui a été présenté en avant-première au Festival Sundance 2015. Sanfelice a été sélectionné dans la catégorie “meilleur réalisateur” pour les David di Donatello 2015.
