Plot

The film follows the events of the disaster of Ustica which took place on June 27th, 1980, the causes of which have not been established and which remain the source of controversy, decades after their occurrence. On June 27, 1980, the commercial flight Douglas DC-9 en route from Bologna to Palermo exploded mid-air above the islands of Ustica and Ponza, leaving no survivors. Thirty five years later, Ustica remains one of the most painful mysteries of Italy. There are three causes which have been put forth: Structural failure of the plane, a bomb on board, and a missile.

Until today, none of these hypotheses has been proven. After three years’ work in close contact with two aeronautical engineers and an enormous number of reports and testimonies put forth since the tragic night of 27 June 1980, Ustica delivers a new, frightening truth, supported by documentary material.

Trama

Il film racconta gli avvenimenti della strage di Ustica che è accaduto il 27 giugno 1980, le cui cause non sono state accertate e sono ancora fonte di polemiche a distanza di decenni dal fatto. Il 27 giugno 1980, un aereo passeggeri Douglas DC-9 proveniente da Bologna e diretto all’aeroporto di Palermo, esplode in volo all’altezza delle isole di Ustica e Ponza, senza superstiti. Trentacinque anni dopo, Ustica rimane uno dei misteri italiani più agonizzanti. Tre ipotesi sono state avanzate sulle cause del disastro: cedimento strutturale dell’aereo, una bomba a bordo, e un missile.

Fino ad oggi nessuna di queste ipotesi è stata provata. Frutto del lavoro di tre anni a stretto contatto con due ingegneri aeronautici sulla mole enorme di perizie e testimonianze effettuate nel corso degli oltre trent’anni trascorsi da quella tragica notte del 27 giugno 1980, Ustica porta a una nuova, spaventosa verità, supportata da materiale documentale.
