Smetto Quando Voglio: Masterclass
Smetto Quando Voglio: Revolution
Editions two and three of Sydney Sibilia’s fun-filled trilogy, Smetto Quando Voglio are on their way for 2017, the first, Smetto Quando Voglio: Masterclass in Italian theaters February 2. Starring Edoardo Leo, Valerio Aprea, Paolo Calabresi, Libero de Rienzo, Stefano Fresi, Luigi Lo Cascio, and Greta Scarano, the original band of intellectual outlaws are given an opportunity to wipe their criminal slates clean.
In the first Smetto Quando Voglio the out-of-work Pietro Zinni (Leo), a brilliant neurobiologist and his ex university researcher friends (a chemist, a cultural anthropologist, an economist, an archeologist and a couple of Latinists) need money and create a special smart drug. In Smetto Quando Voglio: Masterclass the boys find themselves on the other side of the law, helping the police create a special task force to stop the spread of the drugs.
Sibilia, just 35, says that he got the idea for the movies one day when he heard two Italian street cleaners talking about philosophy, and when he asked them, he found out that they were university professors that couldn’t find jobs. He decided he wanted to tell the story of so many young people in Italy today.
Mamma O Papà?
Adorable Paola Cortellesi finds herself in a colossal custody battle with Antonio Albanese in this comedy that will hit Italian theaters (ironically?) on Valentines Day 2017.
Also starring Anna Bonaiuto, Carlo Buccirosso, Roberto De Francesco, and Stefania Rocca, it’s the story of a couple in the middle of a divorce; but where will the kids go?
It’s no secret that we LOVE Paola Cortellesi and can’t wait for everything she does!
Suburra
We don’t have a date yet, but we are on the edges of our seats waiting for the Netflix produced TV series inspired by the exceptional film Suburra, set to debut in 10 episodes in 2017.
The series will bring back ‘Numero 8’, played by Alessandro Borghi, and add Francesco Acquaroli, Adamo Dionisi, Giacomo Ferrara, Claudia Gerini and Filippo Nigro.
Like the film, it’s the story of a real Roman scandal that involved a battle over the development of Ostia. Organized crime, the Italian government, and even the Vatican vie for control over the seaside town and potential casinos there.
