Plot
After living for several years with her Aunt Dete young orphan Heidi is brought to live in the mountains with her old grandfather. Despite being known as a fearsome and hermit like character, he soon learns to love Heidi. She quickly makes friends with goatherd Peter, a boy just a little older than her. Some time later Aunt Dete returns and tricks Heidi into running away with her to Frankfurt to become a companion to a young girl Klara in an upper-class family townhouse. Klara is confined to a wheelchair and lost her mother at an early age. It takes Heidi a very long time to fit into polite society but she forms a bond with Klara.

Alain Gsponer
He was born in Zurich and grew up in Schinznach-Bad, Switzerland. He studied at the Academy of Film in Ludwigsburg, Germany from 1997 to 2002, graduating with his first feature movie Kiki and Tiger (2003). He received several awards, he now lives in Berlin and works as an author and director.

Trama
Dopo aver vissuto per diversi anni con la zia Dete, la giovane orfana Heidi si trasferisce in montagna dal suo anziano nonno. Nonostante l’anziano sia conosciuto come un temibile eremita, impara presto ad amare Heidi. La bambina fa subito amicizia con il pastore Peter, un ragazzo un po’più grande di lei. Qualche tempo dopo la zia Dete ritorna e convince Heidi a fuggire con lei a Francoforte per diventare la compagna di giochi di Klara, figlia di una famiglia di alta borghesia. Klara è costretta su una sedia a rotelle e ha perso la madre in tenera età. Heidi impiegherà del tempo per inserirsi nell’alta società, ma riuscirà presto a formare un forte legame con Klara.

Studia all’Academy of Film di Ludwigsburg in Germania dal 1997 al 2002, quando si laurea con il suo primo lavoro cinematografico Kiki and Tiger (2003). Riceve molti premi e riconoscimenti, attualmente vive a Berlino e lavora come autore e regista.
