Plot

Finance ministers from the richest countries in the world have gathered together in a secluded luxury hotel in Germany for a meeting that may decide the future of the world. Bizarrely, three outside observers have also been invited to attend: a rock star, the famous children’s novelist Claire Seth and the Italian monk and author Roberto Salus. Following a tragic event, the meeting is suspended, and a battle between the Ministers and the monk ensues, as they believe Salus was revealed a top-secret information during a confession. While Salus remains the stubborn defender of the secrecy of confessions, the authorities are overwhelmed by doubts and uncertainties.

Roberto Andò – born in Palermo, January 11, 1959 – is an Italian director, screenwriter, playwright and author. Andò debuted as assistant director, working with Francis Ford Coppola, Federico Fellini, Michael Cimino and Francesco Rosi. In 1986 he debuted on stage directing La foresta-radice-labirinto. After several documentary films, Andò made his feature debut film – in 2000 – with Il manoscritto del Principe, produced by Giuseppe Tornatore. His debut novel, Il trono vuoto, won the Campiello prize for best first work. From the novel he derived the film Viva la libertà, with whom he won the David di Donatello for Best Script and the Nastro d’Argento for Best Screenplay.

Trama

In un albergo di lusso sta per riunirsi un G8 dei Ministri dell’ economia dei paesi più ricchi, in cui stanno essere varate delle misure dale gravi conseguenze. Nell’ albergo vi sono anche altri tre ospiti: una celebre scrittrice di libri per bambini, una rock star e un Monaco italiano, Roberto Salus. In seguito ad un fatto tragico la riunione viene sospesa: tra i Ministri e il monaco viene ingaggiata una sfida serrata, poiché le autorità credono che il Monaco sia venuto a sapere qualcosa di segreto nel corso di una confessione. Mentre Salus custodisce con fermezza quanto appreso in confessione, gli uomini di potere vengono assaliti da dubbi e incertezze.

Roberto Andò – nato a Palermo, l’11 gennaio 1959 – è un regista, sceneggiatore e scrittore italiano. Andò inizia facendo da assistente a registi quali Francis Ford Coppola, Federico Fellini, Michael Cimino e Francesco Rosi. Il suo esordio nella regia avviene a teatro, nel 1986, con uno spettacolo tratto da un testo inedito affidatogli da Italo Calvino, La foresta-radice- labirinto. Dopo aver diretto diversi documentari, Andò esordisce – nel 2000 – col film Il manoscritto del Principe, prodotto da Giuseppe Tornatore. Nel 2012 pubblica Il trono vuoto, con cui vince il Premio Campiello opera prima, e da cui nell’anno successivo trae il film Viva la libertà che si aggiudica il David di Donatello per il Miglior Soggetto ed il Nastro d’Argento come Miglior Sceneggiatura.

RÉSUMÉ

Les ministres de Finance des pays les plus riches du monde se sont rassemblés dans un hôtel de luxe en Allemagne, pour une réunion qui peut influencer l’avenir de tout le monde. Dans l’hôtel, trois autres individus sont présents : une star du rock, Claire Seth- une célèbre écrivaine de livres pour enfants et un moine italien, Roberto Salus. Suite à un événement tragique, la réunion est reportée à plus tard. Un argument entre les ministres et le moine s’ensuit car le moine refuse de partager de l’information qui lui a été confiée pendant une confession. Alors que Salus reste le défenseur obstiné du secret des confessions, les autorités sont tourmentées par des doutes et des incertitudes.

Roberto Andò

Roberto Andò est né à Palermo, le 11 Janvier en 1959. Il est un réalisateur, un scénariste, un dramaturge et un auteur italien. Il a initié sa carrière comme assistant réalisateur travaillant avec des réalisateurs célèbres comme Francis Ford Coppola, Federico Fellini, Michael Cimino et Francesco Rosi. Son premier succès se déroule au théâtre en 1986, avec un spectacle basé sur un texte inédit par Italo Calvino intitulé « La foresta-radice-labirinto ». Après avoir réalisé plusieurs films documentaires, en l’an 2000, Andò a fait son premier long métrage « Il manoscritto del Principe» qui a été produit par Giuseppe Tornatore. En 2012, il publie son premier livre « Il trono vuoto » et gagne le Prix Campiello. De ce roman, il a tiré le film «Viva la libertà » et a remporté le prix du Meilleur Sujet et du Meilleur Scénario.
