Frank D’Angelo’s Red Maple Leaf wins another Best Picture Award

 

TORONTO, April 26, 2017 /CNW/ – The Red Maple Leaf, the star-studded feature film by Frank D’Angelo – available worldwide on video-on-demand starting May 1st, 2017 – has just won another Best Picture award, this time at the 2017 Boston International Film Festival.

The Boston International Film Festival celebrated it’s 15th annual festival with screenings of film entries from all the world. The Indie Spirit Best Picture Award was given to Frank D’Angelo at last week’s event for outstanding achievement in film.

For The Red Maple Leaf this is the 3rd Best Picture Award bestowed along with numerous other awards (including, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Foreign Film) during its film Festival Tour. The Red Maple Leaf continues to play to sold out festival theatres across North America with the next stop being the Hoboken International Film Festival on May 20th, 2017 – Greenwood Lake, New York.

The Red Maple Leaf is surely a film not to be missed and tells the story of the daughter of the U.S. Ambassador who is snatched from under the nose of her Secret Service detail in Ottawa. As the American authorities search for answers, pressure comes at them from every side and, while Canada and the U.S. fight over jurisdiction, seasoned veteran police detective Alfonso Palermo puts everything aside to find her.

The movie is written, directed and produced by Canadian-born Frank D’Angelo who also plays the leading role alongside some of Hollywood’s finest actors including James Caan, Robert Loggia, Martin Landau, Paul Sorvino, Kris Kristofferson, Mira Sorvino, Michael Paré, Armand Assante, Eric Roberts, Margot Kidder, Daniel Baldwin, Laurie Fortier, Doris Roberts and Marc Blucas. The film is dedicated to the great Oscar nominated Robert Loggia and the Emmy Award-winning Doris Roberts, the last film for both actors.

Frank D’Angelo is now in post production of his 6th feature film “The Neighborhood” which will be featured as a World Premiere at The Italian Contemporary Film Festival at the TIFF building in Toronto on Thursday June 15th where actors from the film will be on-hand for the Red Carpet. The Neighborhood, which Frank D’Angelo wrote, directed and stars with a renowned cast of actors featuring Giancarlo Giannini, Danny Aiello, Franco Nero, Armand Assante, Burt Young, John Savage, John Ashton, Daniel Baldwin, Michael Parè, Margot Kidder, Leslie Easterbrooke, Robert Miano, Maureen McCormick, Tom Wright, Sherman Augustus, Laurie Fortier and others is scheduled to be released this summer.

The Neighborhood, is an original story penned by Frank D’Angelo that takes place in Brooklyn NY, about a brash small-time group of hoodlums who have been doing minor crime jobs in their neighborhood since they were kids – from stealing the donation basket from the church to modern time when they are stealing truckloads of products until they step on the wrong toes and get caught up in a war with an old-school mafia king pin and their lives soon become hell on earth.
