Plot
Dante is a hapless man who falls in love with Maria, an attractive woman from Palermo (Sicily). Soon Dante is lured by Maria into impersonating famous mobster Johnny Stecchino, Maria’s husband, with whom he shares an uncanny resemblance. Meanwhile, the real Stecchino is forced to hide in his home after having testified against several of the local Mafia leaders.
Roberto Benigni
Roberto Benigni was born in Castiglion Fiorentino in Arezzo Italy. An actor, director and screenwriter, he began his career in theatre upon moving to Rome in 1972. His famous theatre and film productions catapulted his career both on and off the stage. His passion for entertainment was displayed on the big screen in one of his most famous acting roles in the film Johnny Stecchino, which he also directed.

Roberto Benigni è nato a Castiglion Fiorentino, vicino Arezzo. Attore, regista e sceneggiatore, ha debuttato a teatro nel 1972, dopo essersi trasferito a Roma. La sua carriera è stata un susseguirsi di successi teatrali fino a raggiungere, poi, il grande schermo con una serie di film diventati ormai di culto in Italia e all’estero, tra cui La vita è bella, vincitore di quattro premi Oscar.
