THE RED CARPET ROLLS OUT FOR SPECIAL GUESTS ATTENDING THE 3rd ANNUAL ITALIAN CONTEMPORARY FILM FESTIVAL
Carlo Verdone to receive ICFF Lifetime Achievement Award
Toronto, ON – June 3, 2014 – The Italian Contemporary Film Festival, as presented by IC Savings, is proud to welcome special guests to Toronto for the 3rd annual event taking place between June 12-20. Special guests attending include actors Vittoria Puccini, Enrico Brignano, Stephen Baldwin, Nick Mancuso; directors Carlo Verdone, Paolo Genovese, Joe Medeiros, and Frank D’Angelo, and prolific young producer Andrea Iervolino and his co-producer Monika Bacardi. Guests will be in attendance to present films and participate in post-screenings Q&As.
Director, actor and screenwriter, Carlo Verdone, will receive the ICFF Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to Italian cinema. An industry veteran, Verdone began in television forty years ago and has since become a well-loved fixture in Italian film culture. Verdone is best known to North American audiences from his role in THE GREAT BEAUTY, which won an Academy Award®, a Golden Globe® and BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film for 2013. Verdone will attend the North American premiere of his most recent film, UNDER A LUCKY STAR (SOTTO UNA BUONA STELLA), at TIFF Bell Lightbox on Thursday June 19 at 9pm where he will be presented with the award.
Actor Stephen Baldwin and producers Monika Bacardi and Andrea Iervolino will participate in the Q&A following the World Premiere of 2047. SIGHTS OF DEATH on Friday June 13 at 7pm at TIFF Bell Lightbox.
Director Paolo Genovese will attend the Canadian premiere of his Italian box office smash hit comedy BLAME FREUD (TUTTA COLPA DI FREUD), with star Vittoria Puccini who is considered one of the most highly rated actresses of her generation. The film screens on Friday June 13 at 9:15pm at TIFF Bell Lightbox.
The North American Premiere of AWAY FROM ME starring Italy’s greatest entertainer and actor Enrico Brignano who plays a brilliant but single marriage guidance counselor, will close ICFF on Friday, June 20 at 6pm at the Isabel Bader theatre.
Director Joe Medeiros will present his documentary MONA LISA IS MISSING, about the day the famous painting disappeared from the Louvre and about the Italian thief who stole it, on Saturday, June 14 at 4pm at TIFF Bell Lightbox.
Italian-Canadian actor Nick Mancuso will attend two films screenings at TIFF Bell Lightbox during the festival. On June 15 at 7pm, he will be present THE BIG FAT STONE, directed by Frank D’Angelo, and he will present the short film THE JUNCTION, directed by Rouzbeh Heydari and produced by Nina Marrese, which will be screened before the feature film AT NIGHT on Wednesday June 18 at 9:15pm.
