Plot
In 1930s Italy, a carefree Jewish bookkeeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life with a lovely woman from a nearby city. Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido imagines that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank.

Roberto Benigni was born in Castiglion Fiorentino in Arezzo Italy. An actor, director and screenwriter, he began his career in theatre upon moving to Rome in 1972. His famous theatre and film productions catapulted his career both on and off the stage. His passion for entertainment was displayed on the big screen with one of his most famous films Life is Beautiful, in which he acted and directed.

Trama
Guido, un giovane ebreo, incontra Dora, una maestra elementare di cui si innamora perdutamente e che, come in una favola, riuscirà a sposare. Con sua moglie e loro figlio Giosuè, vive felice finché l’Italia non viene occupata dai tedeschi. Nel tentativo di tenere unita la sua famiglia e aiutare Giosuè a sopravvivere agli orrori del campo di concentramento dove vengono deportati, Guido trasforma la deportazione e la prigionia in un sorta di avventuroso gioco, il cui premio finale è un carrarmato.

Roberto Benigni è nato a Castiglion Fiorentino, vicino Arezzo. Attore, regista e sceneggiatore, ha debuttato a teatro nel 1972, dopo essersi trasferito a Roma. La sua carriera è stata un susseguirsi di successi teatrali fino a raggiungere, poi, il grande schermo con una serie di film diventati ormai di culto in Italia e all’estero, tra cui La vita è bella, vincitore di quattro premi Oscar.
