Director Bio: After theatre school, Alessandro Sampaoli started working in various Italian and French companies. Among the latest to the movies: Bar Sport, directed by Massimo Martelli; Only a Father, directed by Luca Lucini; No End, directed by Stefano Lodovichi; and on TV: Beijing Express – Rai 2 and Camera Cafè. For some years, he was working as an assistant director in the theatre. In His Place is his first professional experience behind the camera.

Director Bio: Alessandro Capitani is an upcoming Italian Director. He began his career in the film industry as an independent author and he graduated from the National School of Cinema of Rome in 2009. His short films and documentaries have won prizes in Italy and abroad. In 2013 his short-film Jennifer’s Law gave him International recognition and was awarded a bursary that enabled him to travel to Hollywood to attend a Master organized by Universal Studios, who also bought the distribution rights of the film.

Director Bio: Agostino “Ago” Panini (Turin, December 19, 1967) is an Italian director, musician and advertiser. His first short film, Scorpioni, was an award-winning production. In 2008, he created his first feature-length film, Aspettando il sole, a film noir with a choral cast. In 2012, Panini published a romantic film entitled L’erba cattiva (Indiana).

Director Bio: Leopoldo Caggiano studied in Milan and graduated as a graphic designer and Director of Photography. Synopsis: A short film that evokes the early years of Ellis Island through the experience of one immigrant. It tells the forgotten story of these immigrants who built America while questioning about those who currently seek the same opportunities and safety in this country and other parts of the world.

 

Director Bio: JR exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who are not typical museum visitors. His most recent installations include a collaboration with New York City Ballet, a huge installation on the Panthéon in Paris and the passing of a container ship. He recently directed the short documentary Les Bosquets, based on the story of Ladj Ly and the performance of the ballet Les Bosquets of New York City Ballet (2014) inspired by the riots in the French suburbs in 2005. JR also directed Face to Face, Women are Heroes, and Wrinkles of the City – Cuba.

Director Bio: Sentimentally attached to Asia, Gloria Kurnik is a Polish visual storyteller and filmmaker currently based in Malaysia. In her work, mostly inspired by the destinations she travels to, Gloria tries to create bridges between cultures highlighting with her stories the similarities underneath our apparent differences. She’s the Grand Prize Winner (Achievement Award) of the Cinema da Mare 2015 travelling film campus and festival in Italy. Giulia Di Battista is a director and filmmaker fascinated by art, philosophy and psychology. She attended the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where she graduated in Media Design and Multimedia Arts. Battista has found the movie field to be her vocation and biggest aspiration, and she desires to dedicate her talent to this lifelong passion.

Synopsis: 85 year old Lorenzo is a lifelong sound recording artist. Now he is on an arduous search for the last sound that will complete his lifetime collection. Director Bio: Giordano Torreggiani and Filippo Proietti have been friends since childhood and share a great passion for cinema. Together they created the Retrovisore Film. Under this name they wrote several projects, including the screenplay for a movie; an entire television series and the screenplay for three short films entitled Vermilio, Piùmé and My Awesome Sonorous Life.

Mazzuca is currently developing multiple projects, including his first feature film Unmade, a dramatic thriller with a mob twist.

Director Bio: Floria Sigismondi delivers her singular artistry across multiple platforms with award-winning work in music video, commercials, branded content and photography. Sigismondi’s audacious music-video imagery has made her one of the most acclaimed directors in the field’s history. In 2010, Sigismondi made her feature film debut with The Runaways, a coming of-age biographical film she wrote and directed about the 1970’s all-girl rock band, starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

Director Bio: Giovanni Braggio is a freelance 2d and 3d animation artist and director who has worked for an impressive variety of companies. Born in Reggio Calabria and raised in Rome, he studied at the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema in Turin and at the Animation Workshop in Viborg, Denmark. Braggio describes himself as an animation “nomad” never content to settle down.

Synopsis: :FASHI-ON, 2nd Edition is a fashion contest inspired by film.

The creations featured are based on the movie “La famiglia” directed by the late Ettore Scola as a homage to his artistry and cinematography. The movie tells the story of a dynastic family and its vicissitudes throughout Italy’s social changes and political history dating from La Belle Époque to the 80’s. As times change, so does the sense of style and fashion. In “La famiglia”, La Belle Époque and the roaring 20’s serve as a historical and a social backdrop for FASHI-ON. The short Fashion Films are contemporary fashion interpretations created by aspiring young designers and rooted in the movie’s social and historic representation.

Director Bio: All designers are Ryerson Graduates. 1. Emily Phaphonsom, from Newmarket, Ontario began her interest in design through costume and is interested in taking inspiration from more than books, but from real life contexts. 2. Marie-Elyse McGuire, born and raised in Ottawa. Her experience through internships such as Degrassi, Ryerson Theatre Wardrobe Dept. and Berman and Company, as well as working as a costume designer for short film, have provided her with a strong basis in the costuming industry. 3. Michael Zoffranieri, born in Mississauga, Ontario, explored drafting and draping techniques at Ryerson, and chose embroidery and tailoring as his focus. 4. Mickelli Orbe, a Phillippine born and Vancouver raised designer. He has interned with Jeremy Laing and received the Carrie Souter Illustration Award. He is also a Telio Design Competition Finalist and a 2nd place winner for the Danier Design Challange. 5. Jovelene Fox, originally from Alberta, before becoming a Ryerson graduate, attained a diploma in Fashion Production from Olds College. She is currently an intern with Farley Chatto, Toronto luxury goods and fur designer.

Il a commencé sa carrière dans l’industrie du film comme cineaste indépendant et il est diplômé de l’École Nationale de Cinéma de Rome en 2009. Sentimentalement attaché à l’Asie, Gloria Kurnik est un conteur visuel polonais et actuellement basé en Malaisie. Dans son travail, principalement inspiré par les destinations dans lesquelles elle se trouve, Gloria tente de créer des ponts entre les cultures, mettant en évidence, avec ses histoires, les similitudes qu’on a tous. Elle est le gagnant du Grand prix (Achievement Award) du campus de film voyage cinéma da Mare 2015 et festival en Italie.

Giulia Di Battista est un réalisateur passionné par l’art, la philosophie et de la psychologie. Elle a participé à la nouvelle Académie des beaux-arts de Milan, dont elle ressort diplômée en Media Design et des arts multimédias. Biografia: Agostino “Ago” Panini (Torino, 19 dicembre 1967) è un regista, musicista e pubblicitario italiano. Il suo primo cortometraggio, Scorpioni, ha vinto vari premi. Giulia Di Battista: è un regista affascinato da arte, filosofia e psicologia. Ha frequentato la Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Milano, dove è laureata in Media Design e Arti Multimediali.
